1 Full Day
Technology makes it possible to do office work away from the
office, and more and more employees are doing just that. The traditional office is often subsidized by
a “virtual office” – a portable workstation, a home, an airport, a coffee shop,
etc. And, working from a “virtual
office” provides many benefits for the customer, employee, manager, and
organization.
In this workshop, participants learn strategies and techniques for managing
communication, building team involvement, and supervising remote
employees. The course explores the
challenges supervisors encounter when managing the non-traditional office
setting.
Course Objectives:
- State the benefits and drawbacks to the “anywhere” office
- Examine the issues of distractions, priorities, and accountability in the remote office environment
- Explore guidelines for successfully managing a non-traditional workplace
- Learn communication strategies for working together without being together
- Explore techniques for handling the remote office communication tools (i.e., remote meetings, conference calls, video conferencing, texting, emails, etc.)
- Plan, start, and run a focused remote meeting
